The role of Senior Platform Engineers is to Design, Build, Run & Evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities that our other engineers use to deliver business value, and to write code that automates running our infrastructure and environments. Collaboratively work with customer facing product engineers to design, build and run ‘platforms’ that they can use to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.  Help to make our platforms loved by our engineers!   We are keen hear from platform engineers who are passionate about infrastructure as code and software eating the world!

• As a Senior Platform Engineer are familiar with the Full Cycle model, where engineers are involved in Design, Build, Challenge and Run

• Have a passion for designing, developing, deploying and running high quality modern workplace platforms.

• Contributes to a culture where quality, inclusiveness and excellence are championed.

• Have a natural drive to educate, communicate and positively influence various stakeholder groups including high level executives.

Requirements of the role:

• Monitor system performance, availability and ensure SLAs are met

• Respond to incidents/problems and perform root cause analysis. 

• Understand customer needs and non-functional requirements, and design and implement end-to-end solutions to address them

• Ensure solutions that are compliant with the Bank’s security requirements and within our risk appetite

• Proactively identify and develop solutions to mitigate platform risks against system failure, data loss, inappropriate disclosure or use of data, malicious attacks etc 

• Support customer requests related to platform technical implementation and capabilities

• Perform environment expansion and life cycle management, e.g. system upgrades, security patching 

• Automate system processes and develop system tools and reports

• Identify performance tuning and implement solutions. 

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;  

• Have experience in core AWS services like EC2, VPC, S3, Identity and Access Management, Amazon RDS etc 

• Have working knowledge of Terraform/Cloud Formation 

• Proficient in Python scripting, Linux configurations and troubleshooting 

• Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD 

• Hands on experience in AWS Cloud Watch, ability to use the logs and metrics available for monitoring system performance and bringing in efficiency where required
