The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within operational risk and contributes to directional strategy of the U.S. Personal Banking (USPB) In-Business Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Operational Loss Oversight team. Requires in-depth understanding of Operational Risk framework elements with experience in the Consumer Finance industry and products (e.g. Retail Bank, Mortgage, Credit Cards, etc.).


Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and oversees the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
  • Independently assesses risks to identify root cause and manifestation that persistently leads to operational risk losses and recommends ways to measure and monitor the drivers of those risk manifestations.
  • Coordinates with USPB Senior Operational Risk Managers, operational risk subject matter experts, business process owners, and second line of defense Operational Risk Management to ensure requirements of applicable Standards and related Procedures are met.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Operational Risk events
  • Work closely with Independent Risk Managers, Finance, Accounting, GRR (Global Regulatory Reporting) and 1st Line of Defense with identifying and managing Operational Risk events
  • Monitors goals are met through performance, risk, and relationship oversight of our extended supply chain
  • Collaborates to resolve any issues which fall within the terms of the contract.
  • Curious, seek knowledge & ask questions to improve & enhance Ops Loss process
  • Develops and maintains relationships across the business users and Lines of Defense to better understand and deliver customer requirements by responding to changes in the internal and external business environment
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Operational Risk Management experience navigating and networking across an enterprise utilizing internal and external resources
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 Products (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Loss Capture System knowledge is desirable
  • Familiarity with General Ledger concepts
  • Able to communicate with senior management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment collaborating across diverse groups

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$107,120.00 - $160,680.00
