What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join our team working on LEGO Fortnite. This person will create tools in the engine to enhance workflow efficiency, capture performance data, conduct analysis, and generate improvement plans. Key challenges will be around keeping the right balance between visual fidelity and performance/memory cost on all platforms, showcasing our games at the highest quality and setting the bar in the industry.

In this role, you will

  • Provide guidelines and develop tools directly in UE5 to enhance workflow efficiency
  • Communicate optimization plans to multiple teams, define priorities and plan of execution
  • Use Unreal Engine 5 profiling tools and others like Renderdoc, LLGD
  • Raise the quality bar on low-end platforms through optimization plans and best practices

What we're looking for

  • Experience working on AAA games for console, PC, and/or Switch and mobile
  • Experience in several of these pillars: profiling, scripting, optimization, procedural workflow
  • Strong understanding of real-time rendering best practices in a PBR environment
  • Strong collaborative nature to partner with artists and engineers
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 and node-based logic like Blueprints
  • Capturing performance data, conducting analysis, and generating improvement requests
  • The ability to adapt to and innovate with new technologies

 

Nice to have skills

  • Knowledge of Python and/or C++
  • Experience shipping games on Switch and/or mobile
  • Experience working on a fast-paced live service game
