About the team and the role:

The Payments Entity Management team enables safe, compliant, and resilient payment operations across eBay’s worldwide payment organisations. The team works closely with Payment Entity General Managers, Boards, and cross-functional partners. They ensure enterprise risks are identified, assessed, and led according to regulations and eBay’s strategy.

This role leads the implementation and ongoing improvement of eBay’s Risk Management Framework across operational, liquidity, credit, market, and reputational risk. The position involves direct engagement with senior leadership and Boards. It provides independent oversight, practical mentorship, and risk-based insight. This supports growth, innovation, and regulatory compliance across global payment operations.

What you will accomplish:

  • Implement and continuously improve eBay’s Risk Management Framework across global payment entities, tailored to complex payment flows and regulatory environments.

  • Partner with Payment Entity General Managers and cross-functional teams to align local and global risk practices with regulatory expectations and governance standards.

  • Monitor key risk indicators and emerging risks, including those driven by regulatory developments, product changes, and industry trends, and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are in place.

  • Oversee risks related to safeguarding of funds, new product approvals, and stress testing to strengthen entity resilience and governance.

  • Integrate enterprise risks into overall planning and Risk Appetite Statements, supporting risk-informed decision-making at management and Board levels.

  • Strengthen risk reporting, metrics, and dashboards to provide clear, data-driven insights to leadership and Boards.

  • Promote a culture of risk awareness by delivering training, mentorship, and actionable insights to payment teams and collaborating with ERM, Internal Audit, Compliance, Legal, Technology, and other control functions.

What you will bring:

  • Experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk, or related roles within financial services, FinTech, or payments, ideally with exposure to payment operations.

  • Strong understanding of risk management concepts, including strategic, compliance, and operational risk, and their practical application.

  • Knowledge of payment-related regulatory frameworks and governance requirements across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., ESA, PSD2, AML, Outsourcing, FCA, Bank of Canada).

  • Demonstrated ability to build and implement ERM programs in complex, fast-paced, and matrixed environments.

  • Strong analytical and financial assessment skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders and Boards.

  • Effective communication and collaborator management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across global teams.

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
