What is the Senior Analyst - Global Research Library in Global Research Library group responsible for?

  • Working independently, receiving minimal guidance only in the most complex situations, utilizes specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in financial analysis discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within function to perform and communicate results of information research, data visualization assignments and analysis based on macroeconomic, sectors, companies, indices, etc

  • Leads team of other analysts on research projects under the supervision of Lead Analysts/Managers.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Senior Analyst - Global Research Library?

  • Independently develops custom research solutions and leads significant research projects.  Frequently provides direction to junior staff.  Develops research practices across the department and potentially influences company/industry best practice.

  • Conduct in-depth information research, ready reference and data mining for complex research requests and projects or initiatives.

  • Utilize data visualization tools and techniques to create compelling data driven stories on economies, industries, indices and companies.

  • Engage with clients for feedback and implement the same in the services

  • Organizes and communicates viewpoints, analyses, data visualization services and library’s activities to SIMs.  Develops internal and external relationships. Serves as representative of the team internally on multiple initiatives, including those that are likely to be complex that require cross-departmental involvement, or are a high priority.

  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing data information tools and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these tools (for example, FactSet, Bloomberg)

  • Responsible for content management to enhance the existing collection of sources for key client groups.

  • Promote library services and resources to assigned clients

  • Develops and shares specialized expertise in assigned projects/topics. 

  • Works with other teams to understand their point of view, socializes an expanded point of view, and leverages significant influence over other teams to adopt new research methodologies or processes.

  • Under the guidance of senior team members, serve as team leader or project manager and coordinate on assigned projects, processes, and initiatives for the global library team with focus on communication, workflow management, project tracking and quality assurance

  • Trains and coaches team members.  May have formal responsibility over other team members on an assignment basis

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • 6-7 years of information research experience in the financial services, preferably investment management

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Commerce or Engineering

  • CFA Level I Candidate

  • Intermediate level awareness of common data sources & investment research platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, FactSet, Factiva, LexisNexis, EIU, Bloomberg & FactSet add-ins

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to analyze, research, evaluate and understand sometimes vague requirements and translate these into customized research, analytics, and data visualization output

  • Intermediate statistical programming skill in common tools & languages (Ex. R, Python, Excel, PPT etc.)

  • Analytical Skills

  • Macroeconomic indicators understanding

  • Advanced level understanding of information management and research concepts and methodology, research systems and digital technology-driven solutions

  • Advanced level understanding of company financials and fundamental research technique

  • Knowledge regarding capital market (Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Real Assets, Etc.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Power Point, Word, and Excel; Acrobat Professional, and SharePoint

  • Proficient in internet searches for academic, consulting, independent research and data  

  • Team player and a voracious reader with an avid interest in markets and economies
