About the role:
The Electromechanical Engineer will be the connection between the company’s engineering staff and the site, to become the technical guidance to other employees in activities where the design of the product is involved and/or technical expertise is needed. Having specific education and experience, he will be focused on electro-mechanic features of the product as well as on their interaction with in-built monitoring and controls.
The Electromechanical Engineer will take care of all the activities related to the design maintenance of products released to Manufacturing for ongoing production and/or spare components; this means support for production problems and or improvements, support to sourcing for vendor related issues/improvements, product update for regulatory compliance, customer-driven customizations and OEM projects. It shall also encompass activities oriented to value engineering, cost reduction, new processes introduction and support to after sales organization in solving field issues.
• Becomes accountable to Management for duties/activities related to product design and for reporting project status and/or specific problems requesting technical competencies;
• Supports internal and external customers with technical guidance on product design as well as on technical related topics; specific attention on technical support for Production Departments
• Together with company’s engineering staff, takes care of product maintenance for agency listings (UL, CSA, WRAS, TUV, IMQ, …), design standards (Machinery Directive, Technical Standards, …) and safety and environmental aspects (RoHs, REACH, …);
• Creates and maintains engineering Bills of Materials, 3D models (CREO & Windchill platform), 2D drawings (AutoCAD platform) and components specification (Commercial specs, Design specs, …) to ensure conformity to reference standards and to customer requirements;
• Assists in updating technical documents (Instruction manuals, Technical literature, …);
• Prepares, manages and puts into effect Engineering Change Notices for design of products built on site;
• Elaborates Product Change Requests and implements them according to Engineering Change Notice approval and release, following the existing company policies;
• Collaborates with Quality, Production and Manufacturing Engineering to monitor production processes as well as product testing capabilities and results; so to identify and prioritize problems in daily activities, defining details of changes as/where required;
• Participates in the Failure Analysis and Correction Teams and processes to identify and prioritize analysis of product problems/issues in customer applications;
• Participates in Value Engineering Teams and Value Optimized Design to optimize the product cost and (additional) features along the product life cycle;
• Participates in Productivity Improvements;
• Consults and coordinates with Production and other departments on site to ensure best fabrication practices are taken into consideration during design process (Production FMEA);
• Is part of multifunctional teams to monitor failures generated in-house and in the field to identify potential requirements for product improvements in future design (Product FMEA);
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of related work experience
• Degree in Engineering, related to both Electrics & Mechanics; one of them with technician degree or experience in second area also acceptable,
• Self-confident in basics of mechanics (technical drawing, metallic materials, (elastomers/thermoplastics as a plus), standardized parts, material strength) and electrics (electrical schemes, design of synchronous/asynchronous, motor losses, relation of magnetic/electrical/mechanical phenomena in electrical drives),
• Be proficient in MS Office, have experience with ERP system CAD software, CREO/Windchill as an advantage,
• Good communication and technical writing skills in English. (additional languages are a plus)
