Overview:

Processes and supports intermediate complexity Letter of Credit transactions in adherence to ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) guidelines to minimize risk to the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Complete issuance's and advisement's of intermediate Commercial and/or Performance/Financial Standby Letters of Credit for customers in a timely and accurate manner.
• Complete document examinations and transfers of Commercial and/or Performance/Financial Standby Letters of Credit.
• Interpret legal documentation associated with intermediate letter of credit transactions.
• Provides cross-training assistance for less experienced staff; provide management feedback on progress of cross-training efforts.
• Participate as a member of letter of credit project teams as required.
• Identify fraudulently presented items through use of International Trade Finance (ITF) policies, procedures and controls.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience

Detail-oriented

Strong customer service skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

International Trade Operations experience

Commercial lending experience

Knowledge of pertinent Bank systems

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $25.55 - $42.59 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
