Job Description Summary:

*Nights (7:00pm-7:00am)

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care under the leadership of the nurse director. Provides and supervises nursing care appropriate to the age of the patients and their respective levels of growth & development served on assigned unit. Maintains the standards of professional nursing and patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, the environment/instrumentation, and collaboration with other health care team members. Provides teaching and activities for the patients and personnel. Maintains and improves the quality of nursing care and patient safety according to approved standards, procedures and policies in the best interest of patients, visitors, physicians, associates, community and SEORMC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs patient assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status of the patient according to nursing standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care, prioritized and based on standards of care.
  • Establishes priorities of patient care on the basis of essential patient needs and available unit resources of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care administered by self, care given by all health care team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in assisting patient in progressing toward outcomes.
  • Identifies the patient's or significant other's learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet them.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State of Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Current BLS training required
  • Successful completion of ACLS training, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc. as required for specific departments, or willingness to obtain.
  • Willingness to certify in nursing specialty.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively under stressful situations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice relevant to assigned nursing unit.
  • Must be able to work as a team leader with involvement in planning, decision-making and constant alertness in observing and managing the work of others
  • Must have a positive, professional attitude toward patients, visitors, physicians, and all SEORMC associates.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, exhibit initiative and good judgement, possess a memory for details, have patience, compassion and tact as required to meet the changing demands of the position.
  • Basic computer skills and/or willingness to complete classes required to become proficient.
