Position Summary

The Pediatric Nephrologist delivers comprehensive, family centered care to infants, children, and adolescents with acute and chronic kidney disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role emphasizes diagnostic evaluation, longitudinal management of renal disease, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and partnership with families to support each child’s health, development, and quality of life. Pediatric nephrologists also serve as clinical partners in quality improvement efforts and multidisciplinary care teams aligned with institutional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage children with a wide range of kidney and urinary tract conditions, including congenital anomalies, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and hypertension.
  • Provide outpatient consultations and inpatient support in coordination with our pediatric hospitalists, intensivists, and subspecialists.
  • Educates patients and their families about kidney health, disease management, and preventative measures
  • Collaborates with other healthcare team members to coordinate care plans
  • Provides medical guidance to nursing staff and timely documentation of patient interactions, diagnosis, and treatment within Epic
  • Maintains an evidence-based clinical practice that focuses on managing kidney disease and delaying its progression
  • Provides excellent bedside manner and communication skills
  • Contribute to program development, including potential future dialysis and transplant services.
  • Education of medical students and residents

Requirements

  • Licensed in Washington State
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
  • Federal DEA certification
  • Experience with dialysis and transplant management

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $357,000.00 - $357,000.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
