We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our Product Engineering team at Thomson Reuters Sri Lanka. In this role, you will support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications while learning industry best practices from experienced engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, real-world environment building products used by customers worldwide.
About the role

  • Develop software applications by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Debug and test code to identify, analyze, and resolve defects or performance issues
  • Document and test new software applications, features, and APIs
  • Research, investigate, and help resolve a wide range of technical issues under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, product owners, cross-functional team members, and stakeholders
  • Approach complex problems logically and creatively to propose and implement effective solutions
  • Proactively learn and apply new technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to the product and tech stack

About you

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Well-developed analytical and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements
