As a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee critical manufacturing processes and tools, focusing on stability, optimization, and performance. You will lead efforts to enhance product yield, troubleshoot root causes, and implement innovative solutions for process improvements. Your role will involve collaboration with Quality, NPI, and Operations teams to meet organizational goals, particularly in ramping up production and achieving high product quality.

This role will be onsite at our HQ located in Plantation, FL. Relocation assistance may be available.

What you’ll do

Leadership and Technical Expertise

  • Serve as the technical authority for manufacturing processes and tools, providing guidance to engineers and technicians.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges using methodologies such as DOE, Six Sigma, and Lean principles.
  • Drive Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) initiatives to enhance product design and manufacturability.
  • Create detailed CAD drawings and designs using PTC Creo for tooling, fixtures, and line layouts.
  • Drive the development, execution, and ongoing improvement of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in troubleshooting, process optimization, and preventive maintenance strategies.

Process and Tool Optimization

  • Own and optimize processes from early NPI stages through high-volume manufacturing.
  • Facilitate vendor engagements to deliver manufacturing tools.
  • Drive the qualification of machines and tools, including IQ, OQ, PQ, Process Stability, and Capability (CP/CPK, GR&R).
  • Conduct data-driven root cause analyses and implement predictive maintenance strategies using real-time tool data.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma implementation and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Analyze floor space, materials, and personnel utilization to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate the creation of closed-loop automation systems with defined control limits and audible/visual alarms.
  • Translate critical process key performance indicators (KPIs) into manufacturing control plan and quality control metrics

Collaboration and Communication

  • Partner with R&D and NPI teams to define and implement new manufacturing programs and capabilities.
  • Interface with vendors to resolve process and equipment-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Provide real-time updates and feedback to the Internal manufacturing teams on equipment and product status.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Develop and implement SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation that comply with GMP and industry standards.
  • Perform time studies and data analysis to support manufacturing workflows.
  • Partner with operations teams on the deployment of production-ready manufacturing solutions within a dynamic production environment

The experience you bring

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong background in high-volume or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab) and engineering software (CAD, PTC Creo, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of process performance metrics (OEE, SPC, CP, CPK, GR&R, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead complex root cause analyses and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive DFSS initiatives, create CAD drawings from scratch using PTC Creo, and lead PFMEA development.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

It’s exciting if you also have

  • Hands-on experience with cleanroom processes, optics, wafer fab, or semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering solutions in a high-mix environment, with evolving requirements.
  • Experience in delivering consumer hardware products.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, ladder logic, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience integrating robotics, barcode readers, vision systems, and conveyor systems into manufacturing lines.
  • Advanced understanding of servo and stepper motors, AC drive systems, and automation control.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative, innovative environment with opportunities for professional growth.
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge optics and manufacturing technologies.
  • A role where your expertise will directly impact product quality and operational efficiency.
