Job Summary
 

The Privacy Manager oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to Crossover Health policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implements system-wide programs, policies and procedures to ensure privacy compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

  • Directs activities for system-wide audits established to investigate and monitor privacy compliance with standards and procedures required by federal and state laws.

  • Develops policies and procedures that establish standards for privacy compliance and security, giving specific guidance to management, medical staff, and individual departments or employees, as appropriate.

  • Identification, implementation, and maintenance of the practice/organization's information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with HIPAA Steering Committee and legal counsel.

  • Collaborates with other designated individuals to ensure policies and procedures relating to Information Security are developed and implemented for the organization's hardware, software and telecommunications systems.

  • Develops and implements ongoing educational programs designed to specifically promote an understanding of privacy compliance issues and the consequences of non-compliance throughout Crossover Health.

  • Reviews inquiries and concerns related to reports of noncompliance and results of documentation compliance audits and directs staff in areas needing preventative and corrective action.

  • Identifies potential areas of privacy compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements preventative and corrective action plans for resolution and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Incorporates lessons learned into Compliance Policies and provides supplemental training as needed.

  • Hires, coaches, and develops staff.  Assists in onboarding and training new team members.  Encourages continuing professional education and development to enhance learning. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in health information management, clinical, or healthcare administration

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare privacy compliance and regulatory/licensing requirements including knowledge of privacy laws, access, release of information.

  • Basic knowledge of a healthcare organization and administration, including regulations and laws common to the operation of a healthcare facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)  

  • Project management experience

  • Proficiency with Mac computers and Google productivity suite (Docs, Sheet, Slides, and Drive)

  • High level of integrity, excellent communication, and strong leadership skills

  • Ability to solve problems and execute on initiatives

  • Experience with working collaboratively internally and externally

  • Self-assured and results oriented

Physical Job Requirements

  • Expected to travel independently 30% of the time. 

  • May require standing, walking and sitting for extended amounts of time.

  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination

  • Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients.

  • Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and team members.

The base pay range for this position is $103,085.00 to $118,548.00 per year. Pay range may vary depending on work location, applicable knowledge, skills, and experience. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off and 401K.
