Job Title: Enterprise Observability Operations Engineer

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Enterprise Observability Operations Engineer to join our Observability Operations team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing our observability platform to ensure it operates seamlessly and efficiently. Responsibilities include deploying observability solutions, managing the platform, handling release management, system upgrades, patching, integrations, as well as managing customer issues and requests, and troubleshooting incidents. The role also involves continuous planning to enhance platform performance in order to support scalability and complexity. Reporting to the Observability Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be a key player in ensuring our observability infrastructure meets the current and future needs of CVS Health’s dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage observability solutions and ensure the smooth operation of the observability platform.
  • Perform regular system maintenance tasks such as upgrades, patching, and managing integrations.
  • Manage the release process for the observability platform, ensuring that deployments minimize disruption and maintain system integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to the observability platform, providing timely and effective solutions to restore functionality.
  • Handle customer support requests, ensuring that all issues are resolved in accordance with service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that the observability platform aligns with the broader IT strategy and infrastructure requirements.
  • Provide ongoing planning and actions to improve platform performance to adequately support increasing scale and complexity.
  • Document operational procedures and system logs to ensure compliance with internal and external audit and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in IT operations, specifically with responsibilities in system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing and managing observability solutions.
  • 1+ year experience deploying and managing observability tools such as App Dynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, New Relic, or similar platforms.
  • 1-2 years proficiency in scripting languages such as Ansible, Powershell, Bash, and/or Python for automation and configuration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to handle multiple tasks with prioritization, and capability to work under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including cloud services, networking, and software development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing IT service delivery and customer support within an enterprise environment.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,310.00 - $158,620.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
