Braun Intertec is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Specialty Testing Group in our Bloomington, MN office. Work will be performed in the field on various commercial, industrial, and transportation construction projects. Work will primarily be located throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, however, travel to Greater Minnesota and out of state may be required up to 50 percent of the time.

Candidates must have the ability to effectively communicate with Braun Intertec project personnel, technicians, clients, and contractor’s representatives regarding project requirements, testing needs and results. Candidate will also perform testing using a variety of test methods, prepare and submit testing and observation reports. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in year round in varying weather conditions, and be able to regularly lift 50 pounds.

The chosen candidate(s) will receive in-depth technical training and industry certifications as needed based on their experience and skill level. Responsibilities:

• Perform routine to complex sampling and testing including, but is not limited to: Mechanical testing (such as anchor and foundation load testing) and Materials testing (such as concrete and asphalt coring, hand auguring, floor flatness testing) .
• Geophysical and other in situ testing such as double ring infiltration testing, electrical resistivity testing, pavement FWD, and ground penetrating radar.
• Troubleshoot and adjust testing to meet site conditions and project needs.
• Provide clear documentation of field activities entered daily in electronic format.
• Work independently or as part of a small project team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated technical and mechanical aptitude for test equipment and electronic data collection
• Flexibility to work some extended or nontraditional hours as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 2+ years of experience in construction or mechanical related field are preferred

All candidates must have:

• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
• A strong safety focus and attention to detail
• A valid driver’s license and a good driving history required
• Be able to follow safety and technical protocols

Compensation Range:

$48,000.00 - $72,000.00
