Job Description Summary

The Services Development Lab engineer will lead and support projects related to detection, repair, and retrofit technology for onshore wind turbines. They will work cross functionally within the Fleet Performance Management (FPM) and broader engineering organization to efficiently prototype ideas and analyze and test solutions for high priority problems in GEV test labs and in installed wind turbines.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and support detection, repair, and retrofit solutions for high priority issues and opportunities in the GEV wind turbine fleet
  • Collaborate across FPM and larger wind engineering organization to track emerging issues and new technologies where high reward prototype & trial opportunities exist. Prioritize top issues with organized and quantitative methods.
  • Analyze operating turbine data and lab test data to formulate clear and data-driven next steps
  • Travel to GEV test labs and travel to installed wind turbines to trial and develop solutions
  • Produce documentation for engineering or leadership facing presentations as well as field procedures, balancing highly technical information and practical and safe execution
  • A position at this level may have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. This engineer resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures, and consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead meetings with engineers, lead small teams during projects, and seek consensus in multi-disciplinary settings to form concise next steps.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Wind or other similar industry
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the wind industry or other similar industry

Eligibility Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% domestically
  • Must be physically able and willing to climb and perform work inside an installed GEV onshore wind turbine

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills. Should be able to summarize complex data sets or topics into clear and concise presentations and recommendations.
  • Strong background in mechanical equipment
  • Experience with Fleet management including issue resolution, root cause analysis, and/or projects utilizing available data to make decisions

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
