Position Summary

The Field Science Specialist/Medical Science Liaison acts as a bridge between the company and healthcare professionals (HCPs), providing in-depth scientific knowledge, practical medical applications and support for our products and research. The FSS is the medical and scientific expert in the field responsible for engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs), facilitating in depth/sophisticated discussions on the benefit of the use of CGM for patients with Diabetes including clinical data and its optimal use of / effective use. Your insights will drive our clinical strategy, support product development and enhance our educational activities. (The FSS is also contributing to the effective communication in the respective country/region of clinical and scientific information. E.g. congress)

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Dexcom’s devices and facilitate scientific discussions, presentations an educational activity to communicate their the clinical value and application
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and other collaborators in the medical and scientific communities.
  • Provide detailed, accurate, balanced, and timely scientific information and support in response to inquiries from HCPs and other partners.
  • Stay current with the latest scientific research, clinical guidelines and industry trends in diabetes management

Educational activities:

  • Deliver educational sessions and presentations to disseminate clinical data, Diabetes related information and effective use of CGM to HCPs.
  • Facility peer to peer training to enable discussions on standard methodologies in the area of diabetes treatment.
  • Support sales teams with scientific information and updates on current research and clinical practices during product launches, customer meetings and training sessions.

Clinical Research Support:

  • Support the clinical research teams to identify sites and investigators for clinical trials.

Data Dissemination and Insights:

  • Gather information from KOLs as to how they are using our products.
  • Feedback information to marketing and sales to help develop marketing materials and commercial strategy.
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, meetings, and advisory boards, communicating data and engaging in scientific discussions.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all interactions and activities align with applicable regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities and interactions, providing regular updates and reports to management.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree educated, ideally in a medical or natural sciences field (or equivalent)

Experience:

  • Minimum of years 3-5 years of relevant experience in a scientific or clinical role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
  • Experience in Diabetes is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong scientific and clinical expertise in Diabetes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain professional relationships with KOLs and other partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to engage with HCPs, attend scientific conferences, and support clinical research activities.
