As the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will delegate and direct caregiver functions in an assigned pharmacy to ensure proper execution and delivery of pharmacy services, including work shift responsibilities and assignments, quality control monitoring, carious project-oriented tasks, and training and orientation activities.  



The ideal future caregiver is someone who:  

  • Is a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). 

  • Has at least three years of experience in an inpatient and/or advanced community practice setting.  

  • Demonstrates strong communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.  

  • Thrives in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and assigns technical functions within pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate services.
  • Interacts with and reviews work of technical staff providing feedback to ensure maximized output and efficiency.
  • Creates and presents quality control reports to management regarding team performance and throughput.
  • Ensures staff is adequately trained and oriented to the work area.
  • Provides onsite retraining as needed.
  • Serves as technical resource for new pharmacy-oriented projects.
  • Works in staff capacity and possesses ability to perform all technical functions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.

Certifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Upon hire, registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 6 months. 

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

  • Three years of experience in inpatient and/or advanced community practice setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to identify and develop solutions applying appropriate pharmacy standards and policies.
  • Must be able to educate/train others including how to plan and direct their efforts.
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written information to all administrative levels throughout the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload effective.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physician demands include the ability to perform functions of the job while standing, reaching, stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of the job.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching; ability to transport up to 250 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
