As a 1st Shift Brazer, you will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of the fit up, fabrication and brazing to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies and procedures, and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, safety and health, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with company policies in a manufacturing facility.
How you will do it
Successfully apply fit up, fabricate, and braze discipline into all standard models.
Position header parts in jigs or fixtures, securely clamping them for brazing.
Select and prepare brazing equipment, including the torch, filler rod, flux, and gases, based on material specifications.
Set up and connect regulator valves, hoses to oxygen, fuel gas cylinders, and brazing torch.
Adjust gas mixture and pressure to achieve the desired flame for brazing.
Guide the torch along the braze joint, applying the filler rod to create a strong and uniform metal joint.
Inspect braze joints for leaks and locate any necessary repairs within the unit assembly.
Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
Maintain safe work practices.
Conduct technical inspections.
Read and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Maintain detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques.
Participate in training program as trainee/trainer as required.
Practice and promote 5S throughout facility and participate in Kaizen events.
Other assigned work as required.
What we look for
Must demonstrate the ability to pass both pre-hire and post-hire Vertical Downflow pipe brazing tests on a variety of metals, including but not limited to stainless steel, copper, and brass, within Johnson Controls - San Antonio.
Proven experience using various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal.
This position will work with supervisors and lead person to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, brazing according to pre-set parameters using brazing procedures.
The ability to scan in and out of work orders and complete signoffs is a must.
Required to have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.
Additionally, the Brazer will be required to read and understand production AutoCAD drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.

High School Diploma, GED or certifications
Minimum of 3 years of previous consecutive brazing experience into product
