Job Description
As part of the military vertical within Strategic Partnerships, the Senior Manager Military Market Development will be a people leader (PL) who leads a two-person team and cross-collaborative team up to 60 personnel that develops new military markets to include international and overseas military markets, the new Air Force “Connect Mission,” Service partnership expansions, and military centers of excellence. This senior manager will develop and through their team execute an integrated strategy, including resources and timelines, to find, explore, cultivate, prospect, and develop new markets in support of the military vertical and Strategic Partnerships. This position will lead and manage the expansion into the US market through extensive research on US and international programs and competitor landscape as well as repurposing marketing materials for a US and global military audience. Additional responsibilities of the new team will include data analysis, research; change management; process design, market development, and implementation facilitation. This role leads and manages their team through various projects in an ambiguous environment with shifting priorities. This position works collaboratively with high-level leaders across functions, internally and externally. You will be expected to bring strong quantitative skills, long-term and strategic thinking, and solid judgment to execute prospecting and national-level partnership support. You will share in our collective responsibility to manage and lead others and drive the overall success of the team. Reporting directly to the Director for Military Engagement, the Senior Manager Military Market Development will also facilitate strategy development as well as the execution of military engagement lines of effort.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
· Manage a team of two personnel (one Manager and one Military Support Specialist) who will develop and execute new military engagement lines of effort to include global expansion
· Lead, manage, and launch business operations for all military market development opportunities that will increase the Strategic Partnership Key Performance Indicator of System Starts by 10% (~3000 students) in the first year and up to 30% in the outyears.
· Leverage their solid knowledge of the military and government processes to achieve departmental goals and deliverables.
· Leads and manages a team dedicated to military relations, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
· Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes professional development and effective service delivery.
· Ensure collaborative outreach aligns with WGU’s strategic objectives and meets military personnel's unique challenges.
· Build and maintain relationships with military organizations, community partners, and internal departments to facilitate support and resources for military students.
· Prepare and present reports on program outcomes, operational metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
· Represent WGU at military-related events and conferences to promote educational opportunities.
· Keeps abreast of Department of Defense organizational structure and its educational initiatives and partnerships.
· Recommend and, under the direction of the Director of Military Engagement, implement improvements to enhance the overall experience and success of military students at WGU.
· Monitors assigned budget and provides advice and recommendations regarding resources necessary to meet established goals.
· Problem solving and internal networking ability to leverage cross-functional entities to ensure military contract requirements are met.
· Lead teams of action-oriented personnel to achieve tasks unique to the existing WGU environment.
· Develop, lead, and maintain strategic partnerships with service schools and military educational organizations
· Lead business and program development strategies to build market partnerships and consortia through strategizing, planning, developing, and executing small and large-scale initiatives
· Lead the integration of military vertical efforts with WGU Academy to meet the needs of Service partners
· Develop and lead teams across WGU to ensure market access and development while providing exceptional service and accountability for military student success as a priority across operational and academic units
· Lead and maintain project plans, schedules, and roadmaps with military sponsors, third-party delivery partners, college leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
· Lead and manage assigned team, extended team, stakeholder, advisor, and customer communication strategies and their implementation. In support of new market development
· Lead external communications collateral developed through internal partners and third-party vendors
· Establish forecasts and timelines of WGU military contractual obligations and collaborate on the development of streamlined business processes to ensure timely execution of all required tasks
· Develop and lead a team that creates strategic partnerships with military service schools and manage the implementation of these partnerships with their team.
· Lead and manage their team to achieve success across WGU to ensure exceptional service and accountability for military student success as a priority across operational and academic units
· Lead data forecasts and timelines of WGU military contractual obligations and collaborate on the development of streamlined business processes to ensure the timely execution of all required tasks

Education
· Master’s degree required.
Experience
· Experience as a Director or above for education market development to include international program development and experience directly leading personnel
· Seven (7) or more years of experience working in learning and development, workforce development, higher education, or educational technology
· Seven (7) or more years of experience interfacing with cross-functional business owners within a matrixed environment
· Seven (7) or more years of experience working with military commands including operations management to include a broad understanding of military contract obligations and the contours of the education arena.
· Extensive Experience in military environment whether veteran, government civilian, or contractor
