Nature and Scope:

This position is a part of global air-cooled chiller engineering team. The engineer will work under product engineering manager to lead the design and development of various new features or new options of current products, support production of existing products, lead and participate various engineering activities to resolve field technical issues, improve product reliability and support value analysis and value engineering. There is a strong emphasis on effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains in-depth understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles, and processes related to all aspects of air-cooled chillers.

  • High proficiency in mechanical design and able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.

  • Leads engineering activities in refrigeration components selection and system design to meet product specification.

  • Develops and executes test programs independently to verify performance and reliability of mechanical sub-components and systems.

  • Analyzes test data, develops calculation methods and simulation models to predict components and system performance. Initiate and drive design changes based on test data feedback.

  • Leads development and sustainment projects working with cross functional teams to ensure on-time completion of projects.

  • Generate technical documentation for use within the company.

  • Serves as technical expert to support product code/standard compliance efforts.

  • Possesses extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes related to air cooled chiller products and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process.

  • Provides technical support to manufacturing, field trouble shooting and application inquiries.

  • Mentors and supervises junior engineers to effectively develop technical competency.

  • Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical (or Electrical) Engineering or related science, Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in product design and manufacturing.

  • Extensive knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers) is preferable.

  • Experience in leading product development on local and global platform.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including fabrication, assembly, and testing processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external customers at varying technical expertise
