Control Room Operator

Role Description
Vanderlande provides its customers with life-cycle services for material handling systems. Maintenance Services on MHS equipment on site is an integrated and important part of our core business as a company. Vanderlande focuses on continuously improving by intense cooperation between all the disciplines within our company together with our customers.
In this challenging role, you will serve one of our key customer systems in the Greater Western Sydney area as a Control Room Operator. The system includes high end automation which are critical for the business of our customer. Reporting directly to the Shift leader you will also be under the instruction of the Maintenance Team Leader on shift. You will be Vanderlande’s first line of communication in the customers control room, therefor you will ensure that all communications between Vanderlande and Western Sydney Airport is done in a clear, effective and professionally manner.
Your duties as a Systems Operator will be to effectively communicate all events/activities occurring on the system to the maintenance and operations teams. You will also be actively involved with communications to Vanderlande remote support service desks and customer reporting systems.
Qualifications
Electrical / Mechanical qualification desirable but not essential
Must be successful in Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) application for Airport e.g. Police Report.
Excellent communication skills: The candidate will be Vanderlande’s first line of communication in the customer’s control room and will need to communicate all events/activities occurring on the system to the maintenance and operations teams.
Problem-solving abilities: The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving on required Vanderlande platforms.
Team coordination skills: The candidate will need to coordinate their shift team, the customer’s operations team, and remote support to solve incidents as soon as possible.
Knowledge of Service desk ticketing systems: The candidate will be responsible for raising incident and problem tickets into our internal Service desk ticketing system and following up on open tickets.
Understanding of automated material handling systems: The candidate should have an in depth understanding of the automated material handling system and its flows and dynamics.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team: The candidate should be able to execute instructions as directed and work independently or as part of a team.
Knowledge of Vanderlande equipment: The candidate should maintain up-to-date knowledge of all Vanderlande equipment and attend training courses as required.
Adherence to safety procedures: The candidate should ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and comply with company policies and procedures.
Report Writing: Proficient in compiling, analysing, and summarizing data to create clear and concise reports, Ability to present complex information in an organized and understandable format.
Data Collection: Skilled in collecting relevant data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Familiarity with data validation and quality control procedures
Time Management: Capable of adhering to schedules and deadlines for report submissions. Efficiently manages time to balance data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks.
Attention to Detail: Pays close attention to data accuracy, consistency, and formatting. Identifies anomalies and discrepancies during data collection and reporting.
Communication Strong written communication skills for preparing reports.
Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
Highly Regarded
• Dual Trade Certificate (electrical and mechanical).
• Experience in logistics, postal sorting and baggage handling systems highly regarded.
Position Requirements
• Successfully obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card for Western Sydney International Airport.
• Criminal checks are required as part of this process.
• ID checks will be performed to verify work entitlements in Australia
• Pass pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol testing

Actively and timely participate in work health and safety meetings and awareness training.
Demonstrate commitment to work health and safety through their own actions and attitudes.
Uses Personal Protective Equipment as required and directed.
