Job Description

The Marketing Associate Director for the Acute Pain team in Canada is responsible for understanding the Canadian market landscape, developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans to support the goals of the brand/portfolio, and measuring the success of these initiatives. This role is critical in driving the successful launch and commercialization of Vertex’s innovative acute pain therapies, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Canadian, global and US Pain brand/teams to shape the brand strategy, segment the Canadian market, develop messaging, and support the launch of new segments, including potential label expansions.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic and tactical marketing plans for the assigned product, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market needs.
  • Partner with the Canadian external communications review committee to develop and approve materials for external use with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct and consolidate key insights from Canadian HCPs, patients, and other stakeholders through market research, advisory boards, and other channels to inform strategy and tactics.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, including sales, medical affairs, market access, and regulatory, to support business goals and ensure alignment across functions.
  • Establish and monitor appropriate metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of marketing tactics in the field, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with agency partners to deliver high-quality, on-budget, and timely marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.

Required Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a scientific discipline

Required Experience:

  • Strong experience in marketing, within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Direct experience working with a communications review committee for the development and approval of marketing materials.
  • Proven ability to generate and apply insights from market research to address business challenges and identify opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to lead teams in solving complex problems and making data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing marketing strategies, providing strategic recommendations, and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Solid understanding of market forecasts and the relationship between business drivers and revenue generation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
