The Opportunity
The Data, Analytics, and AI team is dedicated to solving complex healthcare challenges and improving patient outcomes by empowering business partners across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) to make impactful decisions. The Data Scientist in Data, Analytics, and AI supports the design, development, and validation of AI/ML solutions across Commercial and Medical domains. This role focuses on building predictive models, performing advanced analytics, and contributing to scalable machine learning solutions under the guidance of Senior and Principal Data Scientists.
The position emphasizes strong technical execution, analytical rigor, model development best practices, and continuous skill development. The Data Scientist contributes to delivering high-quality solutions while ensuring adherence to data governance and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, and refine predictive models and machine learning solutions using structured and unstructured data.
Perform data exploration, feature engineering, model training, and validation under the guidance of Senior/Principal Data Scientists.
Contribute to AI/ML projects, including predictive modeling and selected Generative AI use cases, supporting enterprise initiatives.
Implement reproducible analytical workflows and maintain well-documented code and modeling approaches.
Support model performance evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with ML Engineers to help transition models toward production environments.
Prepare clear documentation, visualizations, and summaries of analytical results for internal team use and broader stakeholder communication when needed.
Continuously build expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI methodologies.
Who you are
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
3-5 years of experience in a data science, or a related role
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R
Knowledge of SQL for database management
Understanding of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms
Experience using ML in a variety of contexts such as insight generation, forecasting, text classification, clustering etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data analyses to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented approach to data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong experience with survival analysis (Cox regression, time-to-event modeling, C-index).
Knowledge of interpretability methods in medical AI.
Familiarity with Bayesian modeling and risk prediction frameworks.
Experience working with EHR data and interoperability standards (FHIR, mCODE).
Experience working with large and complex data sets in collaboration with business and analytics teams
Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
Experience with other Data Science and cloud-computing tools and platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.).
Experience with data visualization tools such as tableau, and/or Qlik, and/or data studio etc.
Contributions to open source projects or publications in data science
Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industries.
Relevant certifications in data science, machine learning, or AI technologies (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, AWS or similar certifications

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $156,200/yr to $290,200/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
