Job Description:

Position Overview

Allina Health is seeking a Perinatal Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary Perinatal Mental Health Program, embedded within our hospital‑based outpatient mental health clinics and closely integrated with the Mother–Baby Clinical Service Line.

This role offers a hybrid practice model, combining in‑person clinical care with 1–2 days per week of virtual (telepsychiatry) services, supporting flexibility while maintaining strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

You will provide specialized psychiatric care to pregnant and postpartum patients, partner closely with obstetrics and pediatrics, and contribute to the continued growth of a comprehensive, system‑wide perinatal mental health continuum. Our team includes experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, LICSWs, specialty nurses, and advanced practice providers dedicated to evidence‑based, compassionate care throughout the perinatal period.

Recruitment conversations are individualized and relationship‑driven, reflecting how we care for our patients—holistically, thoughtfully, and with flexibility. We welcome psychiatrists with interests in clinical care, program development, education, consultation, or system‑level impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients across the perinatal period (pre‑conception, pregnancy, postpartum)
  • Deliver outpatient psychiatric care, including medication management and collaborative treatment planning, in both in‑person and virtual settings
  • Participate in perinatal psychiatry consults and eConsult services supporting OB/GYN, family medicine, pediatrics, and inpatient teams
  • Collaborate closely with the Mother–Baby Clinical Service Line to support integrated, whole‑family care
  • Contribute to education and training for clinicians across Allina Health (optional, based on interest)
  • Partner with interdisciplinary team members including LICSWs, psychologists, nurses, and advanced practice providers
  • Support program growth, including geographic expansion and development of additional levels of care (e.g., partial hospitalization, inpatient consultative models)
  • Practice within a trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and patient‑centered care model

Practice Environment

  • Integrated behavioral health in primary care

  • 4 hospital‑based mental health clinics
