The Advanced Applications Group is responsible for KION North America’s portfolio of telematics, collision avoidance, operator awareness and business intelligence technologies. As a Business Development Manager, you identify, create and lead sales opportunities, collaborating with internal KION stakeholders, KION's direct sales channel & external dealer networks. You ensure the creation, processing and nurturing of high-quality leads, build a robust sales funnel, and drive these opportunities to close. You will serve as the voice of the customer and the industry, in order to contribute to the success of future product enhancements. You take responsibility for timely responses, the continuous improvement of the process, and the training level of all involved parties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, creating, and leading sales opportunities for Advanced Application’s portfolio of forklift telematics, business intelligence, and operator awareness/collision avoidance technologies
  • Internal point of contact for key account and dealer channels regarding opportunities:
    • Training and educating the key account and dealer channels on product features, best practices, and methods for engagement
    • Filtering and qualifying opportunities
    • Engaging with key account managers and dealer teams for follow up on high quality leads
    • Engaging directly with the customer for sales presentations and acting as the SME to address any questions
  • Close deals, and ensure that sales operations has all necessary documentation to proceed with a timely, efficient and correct project fulfillment
  • Achieve revenue objectives
  • Maintain up-to-date CRM (Salesforce) and provide funnel reports to management

    Tasks and Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in the field of Material Handling Equipment and its technology, preferably familiar with telematics and "alert" systems
    • Experience in solution selling – looking for the SME hunters!
    • Excellent industry networking skills
    • Capable and comfortable to present and discuss strategic topics in upper management circles
    • Team player, able to effectively communicate with multiple KION internal stakeholders and to leverage dealers for successful roll-out
    • Experience and an existing network in the telematics industry is desirable
    • Market and industry knowledge and association network desirable
    • Understanding of common IT and software platforms used in warehousing environments
    • Understanding of logistical process details
    • Business oriented with attention to sustainable solutions and profitability
    • Excellent communication skills for presentations and training
    • Flexibility and willingness to travel
    • Business fluent in written and spoken English. German and/or Spanish is a plus
    • Proficient handling of MS Office
    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical disciplines, or equivalent experience
    • Office Location:
      • KION North America HQ in Summerville (Charleston), South Carolina
      • Partial home-office possible
      • Regular travel to partners and customer sites
