Overview:

  • Multiple positions available - Full-time, Continuing and Fixed-Term (until Dec 2026) positions

  • Salary Level HEW 7 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based on the Melbourne CBD campus, however, you will be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University and apprentice or trainee locations

About You

The Learning Designer plays a key role in supporting teaching staff to design, develop, and deliver contemporary and impactful curriculum for the College of Vocational Education (CoVE). Working proactively as part of the Learning Experience team and in close collaboration with the Quality & Compliance and academic teams, the role contributes to the development of innovative, fit-for-purpose learning activities and resources aligned with curriculum requirements for Vocational Education (VE) and Associate Degree programs.

The position requires demonstrated experience in applying educational design tools, technologies, including strong skills in leveraging AI, to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, support curriculum design, assessment innovation, and personalised learning. A sound understanding of discipline-informed pedagogical approaches across both face-to-face and online learning environments is essential.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

Essential:

  • A collaborative professional who builds engagement and cooperation across diverse stakeholders in complex organisational environments

  • Digital learning principles, practices and emerging trends, particularly Canvas LMS, Microsoft and Adobe educational tools and AI tools

  • Instructional design methodologies for creating student-centred learning experiences in higher education and vocational contexts

  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences and assessments that demonstrate educational innovation and digital pedagogy

Desirable

  • Apply independent judgement and problem-solving skills to address learning design challenges

  • Manage concurrent projects whilst maintaining quality outcomes and stakeholder relationships

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and proven experience in either a learning design role or experience as a teacher/trainer and assessor, and appropriate relevant industry experience.
