Job Title: Manager Engineering - 400 Series Aftertreatment
Salary Grade: £59,952 - £74,926 per annum dependent upon experience
Location: Peterborough

About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including marine, petroleum, industrial applications, electric generators, and locomotives. Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to join the Component Engineering department to lead design and development of aftertreatment systems on the C0.5-C2.2 (400 Series) range of products. You will manage a small team of engineers, collaborating with our global engineering, supply chain and production teams to shape solutions from concept to production that achieve world-class levels of quality and value.

What You Will Do
Motivate, manage and develop a small team through recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.
Lead high impact engineering projects, ensuring achievement of time, cost and quality goals, and communicating with customers, stakeholders and senior management.
Work closely with Product Management to understand customer and regulatory needs and identify opportunities.
Build relationships with key suppliers and across divisional boundaries to develop solutions in conjunction with IPSD-L and LPSD.
Define and influence 400 series aftertreatment technology strategy, supplier and concept selection, and capital investment. Provide specialised technical support on aftertreatment systems to various areas of the organisation.
Support factory issues, coaching robust problem-solving methodologies and communicating with suppliers, stakeholders and senior management.
Act as Design Control owner, authorising technical drawing and report release, evaluating and approving urgent supplier changes, and owning components from concept through to obsolescence.
Use Lean methodology to lead by example and improve processes.

Collaborating Globally: Able to build networks and achieve positive results with people from different countries and cultures.
Top candidates may also be skilled in some of the following areas:
Technical Excellence: Extensive knowledge and experience of aftertreatment system and design, engine emissions, and/or component development.
Managing People: Previous experience in people leadership.
Required Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent experience) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
