Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE 

The Cybersecurity Engineer designs and manages security measures for the protection of the company’s computer network and information systems. The incumbent will ensure appropriate security controls are in place and may respond to computer security breaches and viruses whenever necessary.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with infrastructure teams to implement, maintain, monitor, and audit usage and secure storage of privileged credentials.
  • Runs internal security tests of networks, users, facilities, and applications.
  • Works with the Customer Success team, Applications team, and Analytics team to validate and remediate vulnerabilities found on windows servers, workstations, and networks.
  • Plans, hardens, and tests server endpoint software necessary to provide protection from and monitoring of threats.
  • Ensures the security software of all endpoints within the corporate network, for remote users and for satellite offices, is current and deployed appropriately to provide best available security protection.
  • Plans, tests, and implements appropriate updates, deployments, and rollouts as needed to ensure the integrity of the security software on all company endpoints; participates in Agile sprints.
  • Works on security hardening or policy updates in servers/tools/applications such as Windows endpoints, Office 365, Barracuda Email, Barracuda Networks, and Azure.
  • Monitors log files, dashboards, and other appropriate data sources to provide periodic management reporting and input to the life-cycle improvement process.
  • Stays abreast of current threats in the industry; hunts for threats based on threat intelligence and limited direction.
  • Identifies the root cause of problems and then builds a recovery and retention plan.
  • Uses automated tools and processes as necessary to elevate security infrastructure.
  • Maps knowledge to a defense in depth strategy implemented on the defense tooling.
  • Conducts incident response actions, as well as any other duties deemed necessary, by management.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with other members of the organization across departments, divisions, and locations.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information, exercising sound judgment and discretion in any disclosure of information related to EM and its endeavors.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in Information Technology projects and system administration

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Windows networking fundamentals
  • Command line network administration (netsh/ipconfig/ping/tracert)
  • Superior troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced TCP/IP knowledge
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to install and configure MS Server platforms
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of networking, operating systems, and enterprise integrations
  • Advanced File/Folder permissions
  • Detail-oriented, and the ability to research, investigate and problem solve
  • Understanding of the OSI Model and the elements within each layer
  • Understanding of virtual networks, particularly Hyper-V
  • Understanding of different circuit types for internet access
  • Knowledge of industry standards including ISO 27001, NIST, etc.
  • Linux experience is preferred
  • GIAC, GCIC, GCIH, GSEC, SANS, Cyber Security Analyst+, Security+, or similar certification is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Work is conducted primarily in an indoor office environment with protection from weather conditions and with exposure to noise typical of an office or administrative setting.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

May be required to work non-standard hours during maintenance windows, business continuity, disaster recovery and/or security incidents. Lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.; Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending; occasional kneeling, reaching, and stooping; handling office equipment; periodic driving may be required; visual acuity to prepare, read, and organize detailed hard copy and electronic documents; ability to speak and to hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face, web-based, and telephonic business communications. Willingness to accommodate occasional meetings and work activities that may be scheduled after normal daytime business hours.
