Position Summary:

Orbital is seeking a detail-oriented process-driven HR operations and benefits leader to partner with the SVP, Human Resources and assist in the build of a scalable HR department. In this position you will help ensure the smooth and effective operation of HR processes and technology to enhance the overall employee experience. You will support the design and implementation in multiple HR areas including onboarding/offboarding, benefits, policies, performance management, and the total rewards process. 

Responsibilities:

  • Review, recommend, and implement HR systems and processes to support HR operations. 
  • Lead design and implement robust onboarding and offboarding experience coordinating with applicable departments and hiring managers.  
  • Support annual benefit renewal and open enrollment process working closely with outside broker to recommend and implement robust benefits that align with our total rewards strategy to recruit and retain talent. Provide general benefit support to employees as needed.  
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and benefits questions. 
  • Manage employee records and HRIS to ensure compliance and accuracy of information.  
  • Oversee annual review and updating of employee handbook, policies, and procedures. 
  • Track and report metrics and run ad hoc reports as necessary. 
  • Partner with SVP, HR to address employee relations issues, escalate as necessary, and ensure timely resolution. 
  • Coordinate HR training programs for employees and managers on HR policies, and compliance requirements. 
  • Oversee immigration requests, transfers, and applications working directly with outside counsel. 
  • Work with the finance department to prepare payroll by providing accurate and complete documentation. 
  • Stay up to date with trends in people analytics, HR best practices, and technology identifying areas of improvement and opportunities for change. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the broader HR/TA team, Finance, Legal, IT, Facilities and across the organization to support a positive and proactive employee centric culture. 
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. 
  • May oversee/manage/train junior HR staff members. 
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to employee details and HR processes. 
  • Performs other related duties and ad hoc projects as required by position.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in HR operations, shared services, or HR business partner functions. 
  • Experience in a fast moving, dynamic biotech company preferred.
  • Experience in ensuring company compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now software.
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations effectively. 
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail.
