Job Details:

The Mercer University School of Medicine is searching for a Associate Director of Finance and Operations on the Savannah, Georgia campus.


 

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Finance & Operations will oversee and manage the financial activities and operations of the Savannah campus, which will involve formulating and implementing short- and long-term plans for budgeting, campus services, infrastructure, and facilities. The incumbent will ensure effective administrative support for students, faculty, and staff for the Savannah Campus. He or she will manage the daily administration of budgets and finances and manage the upkeep and maintenance of the Savannah facilities and grounds in conjunction with the University Physical Plant. The Associate Director of Finance & Operations acts with a significant degree of freedom with routine management decisions under the direct supervision of the MUSM Director of Finance & Operations.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field and three years of accounting, budget preparation/monitoring, and knowledge and understanding of GAAP are required.  Must have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel for preparing financial analysis and in-depth reporting using multiple sources of information.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, general business programs, policies and procedures is required to insure effective/efficient use and distribution of financial and other resources.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and business application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Must be able to respond effectively to numerous and varied situations, analyze issues, and respond quickly and correctly to resolve problems and support the needs of students, faculty, staff, and others on the Savannah Campus.

  • Analytical abilities required in presenting budget status summaries/reports and recommending alternatives to improve services for students, faculty, & staff and to enhance Savannah facility.

  • Knowledge of other University departments and personnel required to insure support for the Savannah Campus and effective coordination with other MUSM and University offices.

  • The Associate Director of Finance & Operations Savannah Campus must be a "team player" with the desire to promote the entire University and all of its programs through energetic and effective coordination with applicable University departments and appropriate external organizations and agencies.

  • Excellent listening skills and trained abilities to adapt to a dynamic environment and progressive organization.
