About the role

What you need to know:

  • Profit and loss responsibility for assigned recreational marine portfolio and responsibility for profit-driven expansion of this segment.
  • Managing and leading the recreational marine team reporting into the PCM DACH
  • Underwriting of new business according to specifications. This includes the acquisition of new intermediary relationships (DUAs) according to internal framework and compliance standards.
  • Serves as the main point of contact in the recreational marine insurance area from the executive level of our business partners.
  • Continue to refine existing and develop new pricing bases and related tools.
  • Evaluating and quoting recreational marine risks within the given underwriting authority. This includes establishing and servicing international programs as well as offer individually priced risks with company provided tools issuing quotes and coverage commitments within the scope of granted authority.
  • Regularly review existing underwriting guidelines and participate in adjusting them.
  • Continue to develop AIG's own terms and conditions as well as evaluate and work with broker terms and conditions.
  • Regularly monitor technical developments in the field of recreational marine and derive measures regarding our portfolio as well as our underwriting appetite.
  • Monitor market developments relevant to sales, as well as derive actions for our own portfolios.
  • Representing AIG interests in various association committees.
  • Search for new target groups, design of new insurance concepts including assistance in the design of their administrative needs. This includes the new development as well as further development of existing IT systems.
  • Analysing responsibly managed portfolios for any need for remediation and implementing the measures to be derived from this. This includes analysing claims data and deriving actions for our underwriting.
  • Conduct training of recreational marine products sold by AIG to various stake holders;
  • Works closely with AIG Marine Risk Consulting (MRC), Marine Actuaries, Marine Claims, Multinational, Legal and Finance.
  • Regular interaction with other AIG Profit Centers as well as the Sales Unit to identify and address cross-sell opportunities is essential.
  • Adherence to internal company as well as legal compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Marine/Transport degree a plus several years Industry Experience
  • Completed studies in law, economics, or comparable courses of study (master's degree an advantage)
  • Several years of (also international) professional experience in underwriting Marine risks
  • Good knowledge of the DACH Marine insurance market including the competitive landscape
  • Negotiation skills with brokers and effective interaction with clients and internal AIG colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively while knowing when to collaborate or escalate
  • Ability to develop and implement underwriting and marketing strategies as directed
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills, clear and concise language both in German and English
