The Change Manager is responsible for the management of the processes, systems and functions to package, build, test and deploy changes and updates (which are bounded as “releases”) into a live environment, establishing or continuing the specified service, to enable controlled and effective handover to operational management and the user community.

They will assess and analyse release components, and provide input to scheduling. This role is also responsible for carrying out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists, maintaining and administering the tools and methods (manual or automatic), and ensuring, where possible, information exchange with configuration management.  

During service transition, this key role exists to coordinate the review and approval of planned for this role are typically:

  • Planning and managing support for change management tools and processes
  • Maintaining the change schedule and projected service outage
  • Coordinating interfaces between change management and other processes
  • Reviewing specific categories of RFC
  • Planning, scheduling, managing and chairing CAB meetings
  • Formally authorizing changes at agreed points in the change lifecycle
  • Participating in the change review before changes are closed

The skills you will bring

  • Ideally 5 years+ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Defence project environments highly desirable
  • Minimum NV1 Clearance is required
  • The ability to influence customers, suppliers and partners at account level. Makes decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives.
  • Collaborates regularly with team members, users and customers. Engages to ensure that user needs are being met throughout.
  • Ability to work on a broad range of complex technical or professional activities, in a variety of contexts. Investigates, defines and resolves complex issues.
  • Has a thorough understanding of recognised generic industry bodies of knowledge and specialist bodies of knowledge as necessary.  Is able to apply the knowledge effectively in unfamiliar situations and actively maintains own knowledge and contributes to the development of others. Rapidly absorbs new information and applies it effectively.
  • Strong communicates skills - fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Plans, schedules and monitors work to meet time and quality targets.
  • Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives.
  • Selects appropriately from applicable standards, methods, tools and applications.
  • Fully understands the importance of security to own work and the operation of the organisation. Seeks specialist security knowledge or advice when required to support own work or work of immediate colleagues.
