Job Description

The opportunity

The External and Executive Communications Manager will be responsible for magnifying efforts to grow awareness of the Manulife brand through proactive and strategic external communications and media relations, earn advertising and media values, ensure strong return on investment (ROI), and increase the Company’s PR Share of Voice.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage public relations and external communications strategies, plans, and campaigns.
  • Manage the development, delivery, and implementation of external communications materials, including press releases, organizational announcements, website content and other materials.
  • Collaborate with appointed PR agency in maintaining relationships with media partners and organizations.
  • Monitor media coverage and PR share of voice (SOV), measure vs. set benchmarks and KPIs.
  • Coordinate interviews, media briefings and other PR events.
  • Identify opportunities for media coverage and create content to attract media attention.
  • Lead the development of executive messages that will resonate among employees and distribution teams.
  • Partner with the Communications Head in overseeing crisis and reputation management through timely creation and update of issue briefs, key messages, stakeholder management, among others.
  • Lead the content production and delivery of Annual Reports for lifeco and asset management businesses.
  • Support Brand, Content, Digital and Propositions teams in delivering impactful meaningful marketing communications campaigns.

What we are looking for

  • An exceptional corporate storyteller with strong understanding of the Philippine media landscape
  • Experience in corporate and executive communications and public relations (PR)
  • Highly strategic, analytical, and organized, with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • A critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills, able to analyze data and make informed decisions to enhance communications campaign performance
  • Effective project management skills, capable of delivering multiple requirements on time and within budget
  • Adaptable and results-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with and influencing individuals at all levels of the organization
  • A natural collaborator who can work across a global, regional, and local marketing structure, and build strong internal partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders (marketing, legal and compliance, human resources, etc.)
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in the areas of external communications, PR, executive and corporate communications. Candidates with experience in a communications agency / media publication and the financial services (insurance/bank/investments)will be prioritized.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
