Walmart is hiring a Manager, Retail Charging Developer on the Energy Transformation team!

This role is designed for an individual contributor who is motivated by complex, purposeful challenges and has the capability to learn quickly. If you are looking for a new position in a fast-paced, innovative environment, this role could be a perfect fit for you.  You will play a critical role on the Energy Transformation team, working on the logistics behind installing electric vehicle charging stalls for Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities across North America.

How You’ll Make An Impact:

  • In coordination with internal stakeholders, assess project feasibility of Retail Charging (Electric Vehicle) projects while considering factors such as energy market dynamics, internal operational metrics, project economics, incentives, regulations, potential risk, permitting requirements, and project timelines. 
  • Lead early-stage site development of Retail Charging (EV) projects through collaboration with stakeholders, consultants, and engineers and work closely with the Walmart Realty Execution team to track project schedules and budget until they are ready for customer use. 
  • Apply technologies such as solar, energy storage, fuel cells, microgrid controls to operational challenges spanning access to power, resilience, operational savings, and environmental benefits. 
  • Translate an understanding of energy markets into actionable development strategies that deliver economic value and/or address heightened needs for energy security and reliability at critical assets. 
  • Support internal technology team and external software companies by providing subject matter expertise to implement software solutions aimed to identify and prioritize key areas for deployment of energy assets. 
  • In coordination with Retail Charging Go-To-Market team, implement customer feedback into project development activities to ensure an optimal customer experience.

 
You’ll Sweep Us Off Our Feet If You Have:

  • A proven track record of developing and implementing public EV fast charging at scale.
  • A proven track record of successfully strategizing and executing projects from start to finish, preferably in the EV charging space; proficiency in utilizing project development platforms and tools a must have. 
  • Strong familiarity with commercial electric utility tariffs, retail energy supply structures, regulations and the ability to analyze the impact they have on EV charging projects.
  • Ability to autonomously leverage large datasets to develop insights and, for more complex analysis, ability to interface and coordinate with data science and technology teams to direct development of applications and dashboards.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in EV charging project development, technologies and surrounding use cases, and typical commercial terms. 
  • Extensive expertise in project finance, origination, and business case development. 
  • Experience with integration DG resources with Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) passenger vehicle charging applications.
  • A strong commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability among diverse teams.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities and strong project management skills with the ability to drive multiple priorities concurrently.

The Walmart Energy Transformation strategy aims to decarbonize our operations while capturing emerging new value streams that help catalyze societal decarbonization. Walmart has recently committed to bringing 10 GW of clean energy online by 2030, in addition to our stated goals of 50% clean powered by 2025, 100% clean powered by 2035, and zero emissions in our operations by 2040. Part of these goals also includes 1 GW of new clean energy on-site.

This position is a part of the Retail Charging Development team, and the team reports directly to the COO of Walmart US and the Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Retail Charging Development. This position is based in Bentonville, Arkansas. No remote candidates being considered at this time.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00-$130,000.00
