Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining an all sport, school based athletic training program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification with the Board of Certification (ATC), required.
- Current licensure by the Montana State Board of Athletic Trainers (LAT), required.
- Current membership with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ athletic training experience preferred.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of FMS Level 1 certification preferred.
- Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Experience with Rank1Sports, and ImPACT software preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Job Specific Duties:
- Services provided shall align with the five (5) domains established by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers and shall be provided as to appropriately involve all necessary members of the Long-term Athletic Development (LTAD) programs:
- Injury and Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion
- Examination, Assessment, and Diagnosis of athletic injuries
- Immediate and Emergency Care
- Therapeutic Intervention
- Healthcare Administration and Professional Responsibility
- Provides athletic training services to clients under the direction of the team physician, the Logan Health Medical Fitness Center (LHMFC) physician advisory committee and/or by written referral by a licensed medical provider. Services provided are consistent with all LTAD treatment pathways and are in accordance with state and national standards and the NATA Code of Ethics.
- Conducts appropriate, thorough initial evaluation of each client’s condition and reports findings to defined stakeholders and LTAD team. Performs confidently in crisis and/or emergency situations. Exhibits knowledge of safety practices and utilizes equipment safely and efficiently.
- Plans, implements, and documents appropriate preventive and rehabilitation services to accommodate the needs of the client, based on national athletic training guidelines. Ensures all medical provider determined restrictions and protocols are complied with and maintains interdisciplinary approach to treatment as warranted. Serves as a liaison for effective communication re: injury status and outcome results to all defined stakeholders and LTAD team.
- Assesses client’s status in response to treatment and modifies program as appropriate in accordance with the injury assessment, medical provider, established goals and/or LTAD team. Applies treatment procedures and modalities in accordance with established indications and contraindications. Performs on-going evaluation of the client’s progress through various stages of rehabilitation utilizing measurable outcomes and documents effectiveness of the rehabilitation program. Complies with all appropriate policies and procedures including HIPPA and Blood Borne Pathogens.
- Discerns the injured client’s barriers to successfully complete the prescribed program. Works in collaboration with the LTAD team to develop a plan to overcome identified barriers and enhance progression and outcome achievement.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures associated with the Athletic Training Program. Maintains physical environment in an effective, organized manner. Works in collaboration with the LTAD team through all phases of physical conditioning and preventative or post-injury rehabilitation.
- Maintains accurate and current medical records, which include, but may not be limited to; tracking client’s injury status, treatment progression and readiness for return to performance program, and return to play status through discharge planning.
- Works with the LTAD team to identify, plan, and prepare for presentation and implementation of outreach services within the scope of athletic training. Identifies needs and facilitates development of community programs within the defined budget. Prepares proposals and plans for services as directed.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
