Job Description Summary

Responsible for supporting shipping operations by safely preparing, packaging, and processing materials to meet customer, production, and quality requirements. The Shipping Packer Queue accurately weighs, verifies, packs, labels, and documents shipments while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and shipping procedures. Receives, stores, and issues equipment, material, supplies, or tools, and compiles stock / receiving records in stockroom. Coordinates flow of product to and from finishing operations. Initiates, receives and reconciles purchase orders. Performs the responsibilities detailed below for the assigned shipping area

Job Description:

  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain 5S workplace organization standards.
  • Review and follow quality, process, and operator instructions.
  • Accurately weigh, count, receive, issue, and ship materials to ensure inventory and shipment accuracy.
  • Securely package materials using shrink wrap, banding, dunnage, and other packaging methods according to customer specifications.
  • Pack, label, and barcode products for customers, outside vendors, and internal operations.
  • Create, maintain, and understand shipping schedules using Plex and Production Control systems.
  • Generate shipping documentation including packing slips, commercial invoices, bills of lading, SEDs, and other required paperwork for domestic, international, and drop shipments.
  • Understand and manage Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs), including creation, transmission, verification, troubleshooting, and backup procedures.
  • Perform receiving activities by unloading trucks, inspecting incoming materials for damage, verifying quantities, and matching packing slips to purchase orders and subcontractor documentation.
  • Verify routing for incoming and outgoing products to ensure proper processing.
  • Perform visual inspections of materials for damage, part verification, and quantity accuracy.
  • Perform quality checks and accurately record results using Plex or other required systems.
  • Identify, contain, and document nonconforming material by generating Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMs) and forwarding them to the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Utilize Plex to order, receive, issue, purchase, and control inventory within the storeroom.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, weekly physical inventories, and month-end inventory verification in warehouses and at outside service providers.
  • Maintain inventory control by accurately storing materials and understanding supplier information, part numbers, and stockroom locations.
  • Label purchased components and deliver storeroom materials to production as needed.
  • Enter scrap received from outside service providers into Plex.
  • Contact suppliers, outside service providers, and carriers to verify order status, expedite shipments, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Maintain shipping, receiving, purchasing, and inventory records in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Manage shipping supplies, packaging materials, and dunnage inventories.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team leaders, production control, suppliers, customers, logistics personnel, carriers, and other departments.
  • Cross-train in shipping, receiving, and storeroom functions to provide backup coverage.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist other employees as directed by the Supply Chain Manager, Team Leader, or Supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Plex, and other computer-based systems for inventory, shipping, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and company vehicles; must obtain and maintain required Fork Truck certification and Medical Examiner's Certificate (Class C).
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and maintain compliance with all health, safety, and workplace standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED certification
