Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Franchise Account Management, the Franchise Account Executive (FAE) is responsible to provide ongoing operational and sales support to an assigned portfolio of Medicine Shoppe Franchisees in Calgary, Southern/Rural, Alberta. The FAE is a business consultant and assists the Medicine Shoppe pharmacist-owner in identifying opportunities to increase top line sales; maximize gross profit and manage assets and expenses. The FAE will assist with training and development of owners, while identifying operational efficiencies to assist owners with profitable solutions. Focus is on fulfillment of strategic Franchise goals as established and communicated on an annual basis and supported by corresponding measurements.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a regular program/call cycle of pharmacy visits with Franchisees/Owners in the assigned territory
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen business relationships with Franchisee/Owner
  • To assist the Franchisee/Owner in increasing sales and profitability
  • Monitor compliance with Franchise programs on on-going basis; establish and monitor action plans to address opportunities
  • Support uptake and execution of merchandising and marketing programs to increase Own Brand sales
  • Collaborate with Franchisees/Owners to create and support execution of their annual business plan
  • Prepare for and conduct quarterly (minimum) financial reviews of actual store performance to plans with each Franchisee/Owner
  • Provide comprehensive operational support in all business areas: marketing, advertising, pharmacy operations, formulary performance, point-of-sale (POS) activities, and pharmacy technology usage
  • Train Franchisee/Owners on best practices in retail merchandising operations: displays, labelling, promotional activities, loss management and profitability analysis
  • Influence Franchisee/Owners to subscribe to the various services offered by the Franchise and refer them to the relevant stakeholders
  • Manage and coach adherence to vendor programs
  • Escalate serious issues (e.g. breach of license agreement, lack of adherence to standards) as required
  • Act as primary liaison between the pharmacy, the National Sales and Member Experience team and preferred suppliers to ensure Franchisee/Owner concerns are communicated and resolved
  • Help develop the network by identifying future sites and prospective owners
  • Create and execute pharmacy grand opening plans

Section B – Key Requirements

  • Post secondary education in a related field is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of pharmacy retail experience with strong merchandising, marketing, and sales
  • Understanding of pharmacy practice and the business of pharmacy in the Canadian marketplace
  • Ability to identify with the independent businessperson and leverage influence without authority
  • Knowledge of retail pharmacy products and operations
  • Knowledge of point of sale and dispensary practice management systems
  • Superior organization, collaboration, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent selling and presentation skills
  • Superior English communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated leadership and people skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of team members within McKesson Canada
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License
  • Vehicle included
