This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

  

As a part of a small fabrication team, you will be the primary welder responsible for carbon & stainless pipe and structural steel welding in the shop and in the field, and other welding tasks as assigned including cutting, fit-up, grinding, and painting per WPS, engineering drawings, and work instructions. You will train additional team members to qualify for pipe welding per ASME Section IX and structural steel welding per AWS D1.1. Though welding will be your primary responsibility, you will perform several other tasks such as equipment repairs, fabrication of assemblies and fixtures, and maintenance of the weld shop.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Self-sufficient, self-starter and driven.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Current or previous pipe welding qualification/certification.
  • 5+ years GTAW pipe welding experience.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience in pipe fitting.
  • Must be able to pass practical weld tests for 6G pipe and 3G/4G structural steel.
  • Expert ability in welding aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Expert ability in GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Bend/kneel, stoop/crouch, twist/turn, grasp/reach overhead and outward frequently.
  • Ability to travel to different vendor and Blue Origin facilities as necessary.
  • Must document and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA technical degree/equivalent and/or technical coursework.
  • Experience in use of 3D CAD programs.
  • Ability to interpret GD&T.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment. (forklift, overhead crane, hoist, man lift, etc.)
  • Work 1st or 2nd shift, as well as weekends and overtime, when necessary.
  • Working knowledge of pressurized fluid systems.
