As a Field Service Engineer supporting customers in the Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba territory, you will be trusted to provide technical advice to customers including commissioning, installing, and testing of products/equipment. In this role, you will:
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance, retrofits, upgrades, and system installations.
- Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Promptly address customer concerns, quality assurance, and medical safety issues.
- Manage daily schedule while maintaining accurate and timely communications with customers, dispatch, managers, regional and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain all administrative responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist Sales, Clinical, and In-house team including other Field Service Representatives as needed.
- Manage inventory, keep accurate records, and promptly return unused and failed parts.
- Promote/sell service contract offerings to customers and assist Sales in selling service agreements to customers within the assigned territory as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Associate degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or Engineering (IT education/experience) preferred.
- Strong electronic, electrical, and mechanical background required
- Willingness to work flexible hours on short notice to support customer demand.
- Functional with Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds – i.e., tools, replacement parts, etc.
- Possess a current valid driver’s license and good driving record over last three years.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills; adept at resolving difficult situations.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and scheduling abilities.
- Analytical problem-solving and professional communication under pressure.
- Self-starter, capable of independent travel and work with minimal supervision.
- Proven technical support and decision-making skills.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience with advanced medical devices and lasers. Knowledge of connecting medical devices to hospital networks. Familiar with OR and surgery center protocols.
- Preferred: Experience with ServiceMax/Salesforce.
- Must reside in Alberta (preferred) or Manitoba
Travel Requirements:
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently from home office 20% and in the field 80% of the time.
- Must also be able to travel overnight 50% of the time or as needed.
