What part will you play?

The Plant Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting Operations and will serve as a key business partner to the Cost Accounting Manager and extended Finance, Manufacturing and Operations teams. The Plant Accountant will provide support in the monthly financial close, post-close analysis, finance master data, cost accounting, fixed asset accounting and inventory processing and review. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a proactive team player with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

What will you do?

  • Assist in month end close activities;  posting recurring and adjusting journal entries, site reporting and reconciliations

  • Ensure proper inventory control management, including raw material and finished goods cycle and physical counts, month-end reporting, and policy adherence

  • Ensure finance master data is accurate and properly maintained; Finance data includes BOM quantities, BOM part numbers, BOM usage, fixed asset tag creation, fixed asset project creation, PO part numbers, transaction accounting rules

  • Detailed Balance Sheet preparation for review by management including all Inventory, GRNB and Fixed Asset accounts

  • Responsible for inventory transaction processing within PeopleSoft

  • Ensure proper reconciliation of inventory balances between PeopleSoft and WASP systems

  • Assist in site capex plans: forecast, approvals,inclusive of fixed asset inventories and tagging

  • Review/analyze capital spend, identify fixed asset additions and report on the monthly fixed asset listing

  • Participate in staff/production meetings with the Operations group as required

  • Coordinate with the Supply Chain team on the accuracy of the general ledger account coding of purchase orders

  • Gather and manipulate data to facilitate analysis, prepare and distribute reports, and provide support for such analysis as needed

  • Overall support of the Cost Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting Operations

What do we require from you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting 

  • MBA, CMA preferred but not required

  • Experience in Cost Accounting

  • Manufacturing experience (manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures)

  • 2-4 years of experience in Accounting or Finance

  • Knowledge of US GAAP

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams at all levels

  • Success with meeting deadlines under pressure and performing multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Understanding of key financial and operational systems (preferred but not required): SAP
