Job Summary
- Southwest's Cloud & Data Platforms organization builds and operates the enterprise foundation that powers how the company develops, deploys, and consumes technology — spanning cloud platform engineering, developer platforms, and enterprise data infrastructure. The team enables faster, more scalable, and more secure innovation by delivering reusable platform capabilities that hundreds of Southwest engineering teams depend on every day.
- As Senior Manager Technology – Cloud & Data Platforms, you'll lead a growing organization in our Hyderabad office spanning Data Lake 2.0, Platform AI & Integration, and Platform & AI Accelerators — coaching three Manager-level leaders and their pods as they deliver enterprise data lake capabilities, AI-enabled developer platforms, and next-generation IaC accelerators. You'll set the strategic direction for how these platforms mature and adopt across the enterprise, partner closely with US-based Managing Directors and executive leadership, and build a high-performing engineering culture rooted in platform-as-a-product principles, ownership, and cross-continental collaboration.
- Provide a People focused approach to Technology Leadership. Apply Department/Enterprise Business knowledge to ensure value alignment. Accountable for the delivery and support of solutions and services that are technically and functionally solid, well integrated, comply with technical strategy, and meet or exceed Customer requirements.

- Lead, support, and influence the achievement of the mission, goals and objectives of the department and organization

- Provide Technical thought Leadership related to assigned functional areas
- Deliver technology solutions using best practices to achieve maximum Team productivity while delivering high quality products
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, processes, and solutions related to assigned responsibilities
- Build strong, collaborative relationships and credibility while influencing and driving change across respective Business and Technology Teams
- Work with Technology and business partners to measure financial benefits and demonstrable business value

Coaching Manager-level leaders and building leadership benches within a growing organization - Platform-as-a-product mindset where hundreds of application teams consume and own reusable capabilities
- Enterprise adoption strategy — driving migration, modernization, and platform adoption at scale
- AWS-centric platform architectures including data lake, developer platform, and IaC-based accelerators
- AI-enabled developer productivity and platform acceleration (Knowledge Graph, Duo Agent Platform, Backstage Golden Paths, AI-based adoption accelerators)
- Cross-continental engineering leadership across globally distributed teams
- Executive-level communication with VP and MD-level stakeholders
- FinOps discipline and cost stewardship across large-scale AWS platform environments
Education
- Required: Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- A Business and/or Information Technology environment
- Leading teams and providing work direction
- 12-15 years of relevant work-related / leadership experience
- Preferred:
- Leading multi-team engineering organizations spanning cloud platforms, developer platforms, or enterprise data platforms
- Managing Manager-level leaders and their teams in a large enterprise setting
- Driving enterprise-wide platform adoption or transformation initiatives (e.g., IaC migration, developer platform modernization, data platform evolution)
- Building or scaling a globally distributed engineering organization, particularly with US–India collaboration
- Partnering with executive stakeholders (VP/MD) on multi-year platform strategy
- Delivering on enterprise developer platforms (GitLab, Backstage, or comparable) at scale
- Delivering on enterprise data platforms (data lake, lakehouse, semantic layer) at scale
- Airline, travel, or comparable large enterprise IT environments
- Hiring and growing engineering leaders and technical talent across geographies
Other Qualifications
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
