What You’ll Do
Lead and Grow Engineering Talent
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, building a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement
Own the full performance and development lifecycle, including regular 1:1s, development conversations, and coaching
Proactively manage performance, wellbeing, compliance, and safety across the team
Build your own leadership capability while supporting others to do the same
Set Technical Direction
Define, own, and continuously evolve the technology stack within your domain
Establish and champion engineering standards, best practices, and patterns
Align technical strategy with broader organisational goals and platform roadmaps
Act as a trusted advisor on complex technical and architectural decisions
Communicate technical strategy confidently to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Build and Deliver Great Software
Design and deliver secure, scalable, and reliable systems
Stay hands‑on—contributing directly to codebases where it matters most
Lead solution design, perform critical code and design reviews, and raise the bar for quality
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges
Champion Engineering Craft
Foster strong collaboration with Product, Architecture, Platform and Data partners
Drive continuous improvement through modern engineering practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automation)
Champion innovation and identify opportunities to optimise systems and processes
Build and support our communities of practice to share knowledge and uplift engineering capability
What You Bring
Experience
10+ years’ experience in software, systems, or platform engineering with deep hands‑on delivery
Proven leadership experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams
Strong experience designing and building scalable, secure systems
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
Background working with and championing Agile, DevOps - CI/CD practices
Technical Expertise
Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices
Expertise with Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, and modern deployment approaches
Expertise in multiple modern programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, C#, JavaScript) or specialist platforms/tools
Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with event driven architectures, IoT message services and API based integrations.
Solid knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and distributed systems
Capabilities
Balance strategic leadership with hands‑on technical contribution
Influence without authority and communicate effectively at all levels
Mentor engineers and uplift team capability
Drive technical excellence while delivering real business outcomes
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, pragmatic solutions
