Position Summary

The Solutions Architect is responsible for supporting carrier customers with innovative technology and market-leading products in areas like 4G/5G Cloud Native Core, Private Networks, and Mission Critical Core Solutions. The successful candidate will be able to be both “hands-on” and a successful technical leader that can support and develop technical competencies with other peers within the team.

Role and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical pre-sales and delivery solution lead for Core technology and solutions.

  • Work closely with an operator mindset to design and propose solutions that enhance their network.

  • Keep up to date on relevant standards bodies and industry best practices within telecom (3GPP), cloud technologies, and DevOps.

  • Support sales team with technical presentations and RFxs.

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the wireless services network, including devices, RAN, Transport, and Packet Core domains and aligning internal counterparts to propose aligned E2E solutions.

  • Collaborate and lead product and delivery teams to ensure designed solutions are developed and deployed to meet design objectives.

  • Responsible as interface between customers and R&D for Feature Requests and Software Roadmap.

  • Create High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) along with other relevant technical design documentation.

Requirements:

  • Prior Core network design and development experience as both a vendor or operator

  • Thorough understanding of 3GPP specification for LTE /5G features and Protocols, experience with ongoing 3GPP Rel-15/16 activities is beneficial

  • End to End knowledge of wireless, covering devices, RAN, Transport and Packet Core domains

  • Deep technical knowledge in 4G/5G CORE Architecture and features.

  • Ability to understand customers business objectives and pain points and able to link them to improvements in Network Performance and End User Experience

  • Effectively communicate and influence decision-makers by demonstrating the impact of proposed actions/services on their business.

  • Ability to communicate, articulate, present and influence the C-Level (CTO, CEO) by knowing the impact of any action/service on their business 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; Advanced degree is beneficial

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Technical lead or core architect experience within an operator or supplier environment, preferably in a Canadian or North American context.

  • Knowledge of wireless telecommunications networks (4G, 5G, IMS, MCPTX, Private Network)

  • Experience with Virtualization, Containerized / Cloud-Native environments (Micro Services architecture, OpenShift, OpenStack)

  • Working experience with cloud providers – Google, AWS, Azure

  • Familiarity with SIP, DIAMETER, HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP, RTP/SRTP, NETCONF

  • Experience in system integration, designing, deploying and testing in a multi-vendor platform scenario.

  • Understanding of Linux core fundamentals, scripting and service monitoring.

  • Solid understanding of IP networking (CCNA, CCNP etc).

  • Proficiencies in Lean, Agile, CICD, SRE, DevOps methodologies

  • Exceptional troubleshooting and customer-handling skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate in languages additional to English (French, Spanish etc) is a plus

• Has a wide range of experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

• Works on complex issues where analyzing situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variables. Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinates other's tasks

• May manage a group such as coordinating activities regarding costs, methods and staffing

• Typically requires at least 8 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years
