About the Opportunity

As a Technical Writer, you will work with a world-class team to create product documentation for Tessell’s revolutionary DBaaS platform. Working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, you experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions as Tessell delivers weekly releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers.

Our goal is to help our readers successfully use the Tessell platform by providing outstanding documentation. We regularly tackle topics such as the API, backups, restoration, creating deployments with enterprise-grade security, managing high availability, and scalability for databases.

You will use your writing and technical skills to write clear and consistent reference documentation and tutorials on high-complexity features. You will write for experienced users and those new to Tessell.

Responsibilities

  • Create online guides, reference docs, and tutorials for technical audiences (SQL engineers, application developers, etc.).
  • Engage directly with product managers, software engineers, and UI designers to ensure all features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented.
  • Work with release engineers and dev ops to deliver weekly product updates and documentation.
  • Work with support engineers and customer success managers to help drive customer engagement and adoption, which may include:
    • Contributing to Knowledge Base articles and Community questions.
    • Authoring and editing technical blog posts.
    • Developing training materials, implementation guides, migration guides, best practices, and FAQs.
  • Have a solid understanding of and experience with technical writing best practices. 
  • Center our users in everything you write.
  • Work with technical and non-technical teams to meet the documentation needs of our users.
  • Research complex product features and validate with diligent testing.
  • Produce technically accurate and well-written documentation.
  • Contribute feedback to the team through copy review and planning discussions.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years creating technical product documentation from scratch, as well as from specs.
  • Strong SQL and RDBMS skills (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.); comfortable working with sample code.
  • Has experience with or is interested in learning about NoSQL (MongoDB) and Vector (Milvus) database technologies
  • Exposure to using and documenting any of the following security and governance technologies:
    • Identity and Access Management (SSO, OAuth, MFA, RBAC, SCIM, etc.)
    • Networking and Private Connectivity (AWS PrivateLink, Azure Private Link, Google Cloud Private Service Connect)
    • Governance (data masking/tokenization for column-level security, row-level security, data classification and anonymization, etc.)
    • Additional topics (data encryption, auditing, compliance, and regulatory standards)
  • In-depth knowledge of the content development lifecycle, including:
    • Identifying and understanding the information needs of the audience.
    • Gathering information, interviewing SMEs, and conducting research.
    • Authoring, publishing, and managing online/web content.
  • Possesses strong critical reading and writing skills
  • Is able to read code for technical examples in at least one programming language (C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Has experience testing and validating documentable features and concepts
