Summary
Title: Education and Training Specialist
Job Description:
UMC Physicians is looking for an addition to the Education and Training team. This team administers learning and development programs for both new and established employees. The Education and Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating competency-based specialty training and educational programs. This position is primarily in charge of the training for our Customer Service Advocates and includes instruction on checking in patients, insurance practices, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting money, and providing excellent customer service to our patients.

Responsibilities include:
• Work as part of a team to analyze, design, create and display appropriate
learning and performance solutions for UMC Physicians
• Facilitate training programs using skillful application of the adult learning
theory to ensure outcomes are achieved
• Draw upon a wide variety of techniques to ensure engagement, knowledge
transfer, and skill development as well as efficient and fun learning
• Create practice scenarios and real-life patient experiences for hands on
learning sessions
• Create Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and Word documents to enhance
training
• Conduct training sessions in the classroom covering specific areas such as
customer service, practice management system, EMR system, refresher
courses and professional development
• Conduct periodic reviews of curriculum in relation to its efficacy in
development of trainee’s knowledge and skill in demonstrating established
performance/competencies-revise as necessary
• Identify training and development needs through job analysis, appraisals, and
regular consultation with management
• Monitor employee training completion records and report employee progress
to appropriate manager and operations directors
Skills Required:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a changing, multi-tasking work environment
• Ability to use a computer and advanced knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to relate to others
• Ability to conduct presentations and speak in public to large groups of people
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Self-motivated with a desire to take ownership in their work
• Desire to learn and participate in continuing education classes
• Ability to engage and motivate learners
• Skill in formal mentoring and/or coaching and strong team building skills
• Ability to motivate learners to take an active role in their ongoing training and
development
• Knowledge of adult learning theories, needs assessment techniques,
evaluation of training and development programs, career development
theories, and appropriate use of a variety of training needs
Required Qualifications:
• Experience in training adults
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 2+ years of clinic experience
Environmental Conditions:
Works in well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Exposure to blood borne pathogens are of low risk. Hours of duty may be irregular.
Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged standing, sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Driving in order to conduct on-site training and system go-lives. Must be able to transact business in person or on the phone professionally.
