RSM’s Global VAT Team serves clients in the three critical areas of VAT Advice, VAT Compliance, and VAT Automation. Automation addresses the way that clients deploy and use technology to manage end-to-end VAT processes; Compliance provides an automated outsourced solution to manage, analyze, and report VAT data to tax authorities around the world; Advice helps clients navigate the complex technical aspects of VAT globally and ensures that they can meet their obligations effectively, accurately and efficiently. 

As an experienced professional for International VAT (Value Added Tax) consulting within the RSM International Tax practice, you will be responsible for the following duties which are focused around three core concepts (Business Growth, Technical and Quality Expertise, and Client Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a growth plan based on specific geographies, industry sectors, and service offerings
  • Contribute thoughts and ideas for the strategic direction of the global indirect tax business and be prepared to lead those efforts
  • Generate the need for further VAT recruitment and lead that effort
  • Build internal and external relationships to generate workflow
  • Develop a specific VAT service or technical offering in which you are seen as a national leader
  • Provide excellent client service to internationally active companies with VAT needs by interacting with clients and the RSM tax team
  • Lead technically complex multi-territory assignments within key areas, such as, Supply chain efficiency, ERP configuration, and process improvement
  • Global compliance (in conjunction with dedicated VAT compliance professionals)
  • Corporate transactions and restructuring
  • Work within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver services
  • Operate on a US National basis, as needed, to support the needs of clients across the US
  • Provide coaching and training to VAT and non-VAT staff
  • Provide appropriate and timely performance feedback and coaching to develop supervised staff
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell services
  • Effectively manage risk and meet commercial and financial targets as agreed
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an international business or related field
  • Requires one of the following: CPA, EA, JD, LLM or professional tax/VAT qualification attained from a recognized tax training body (eg Chartered Institute of Taxation, UK)
  • Requires a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience providing VAT consulting services in a Public Accounting, Consulting, or Law firm
  • Proven record of maintaining client relationships with business owners, tax directors, or CFOs
  • Existing market presence and profile
  • Specific industry expertise and known industry profile
  • Requires the ability to travel within assigned geographical area up to 50% (Travel was largely suspended due to COVID-19 but we have started to resume some level of client contact which has required travel)

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $155,400 - $312,400

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
