Role Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and setting up a range of machinery and equipment to support efficient production processes. This role involves performing routine operational tasks, conducting visual inspections, and ensuring all equipment is installed and functioning in accordance with quality and safety standards. The position requires working with both manual and computerised machinery while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
Operate, set up, and maintain machinery and equipment in line with operational requirements
Perform routine inspections to ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards
Use hand tools to carry out assigned tasks effectively
Transport materials and components to and from work areas using power lift trucks and forklifts
Ensure continuous and efficient production flow
Identify and assist in resolving production and technical issues
Read and interpret route sheets and blueprints to complete tasks accurately
Train and support new machine operators as required
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Undertake additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Proven ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Basic shop mathematics skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Demonstrated experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or similar environment
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
Physically capable of standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Valid forklift certification
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Experience in machining or a related technical field
Proficiency in using and interpreting precision measuring instruments
Basic computer literacy
High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of relevant experience
