A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) diagnoses and treats conditions that affect the ability to communicate and swallow. As an expert in communication, you will help assess, diagnose, treat and prevent speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders for our patients. In this role, you can help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities and improve their ability to comprehend others, express themselves and swallow safely.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements. 

Caregivers in this role will be required to provide coverage at both Avon and Fairview locations.

A caregiver who excels in this role, will: 

  • Evaluate and treat patients with injuries and/or diseases which result in a loss or impairment of speech, language, voice, cognitive and/or swallowing function.  

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.  

  • Establish goals and plans of care.  

  • Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard speech therapy techniques and skills.  

  • Complete documentation.  

  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

  • Master’s Degree 

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program 

  • Current Ohio license as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) 

  • Hold or have applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

  • Experience in clinical area

  • Acute care experience, especially with dysphagia therapy

  • One to two years of experience

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks. 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time. 

Personal Protective Equipment: 

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
