Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Manager Production Engineering to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position is located onsite in Palmdale, CA.

In this role, you will oversee and manage the Production Engineering Team within the Strike program.  This team consists of approximately 160 engineers comprised of multiple engineering disciplines including Liaison, Stress, Materials and Process, Structural Design and Subsystem Design.  The team performs a wide variety of tasks including Material Review Board (MRB) nonconformance dispositions, analysis, and designs needed to keep the production floor progress towards technical excellence, meet schedule and cost deliverables. It is critical that the candidate be able to balance those facets to ensure the highest product quality.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sets daily and long-term priorities and operating to objectives set by the Production IPTs

  • Provides guidance to subordinates based on those priorities and objectives while adhering to company policy

  • Assists team with removing any constraints preventing them from performing at the highest level possible

  • Reviews team staffing and budget statuses and makes recommendations to meet program schedule and cost

  • Responsible for budget forecasting and justifications as needed for area of assignment

  • Regularly analyzes alternative courses of action while weighing risk/reward implications for program or area of influence

  • Helps meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 10 years of related professional/military engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military engineering experience

  • Experience with aircraft production or maintenance

  • Liaison Engineering Material Review Board (MRB) experience

  • Leadership experience that includes managing an engineering team

  • Knowledge of composite builds/layups

  • Knowledge of aircraft subsystems and assembly

  • Knowledge of Low Observables

  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Current Special Program Access (PAR)

  • Proven leadership capabilities

  • 3 or more years of engineering management experience

  • Able to effectively communicate and present across functions and at the executive level

  • At least 5 years' experience with aircraft production

  • Liaison Engineering MRB Signature Authority for Strike

  • Experience managing a multi-disciplined MRB engineering team

  • In-depth experience with composite build/layups with Scarfs, Doors, and other composite materials

  • Experience of aircraft subsystems and assembly

  • Experience working with Low Observables

Salary Range: $180,600.00 - $271,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
