PRN Registered Pharmacy Technician

The Registered Pharmacy Technician will perform packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records while pursuing completion of the Cleveland Clinic’s School of Pharmacy Technology program in the first 12 months of employment. 

 

A caregiver in this position works Day/Evening/Night/Weekend, from 7:00am—8:00pm.   


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare medications which may include selection, labeling, repackaging, and non-sterile compounding. 

  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations. 

  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies. 

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 

  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner. 

  • Communicate with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner. 

  • Demonstrate emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships.  

  • Attend and participate in team hurdles and meetings.  

  • Share responsibility for accomplishment of the team’s tasks and goals. 

  • Use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks. 

  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program per the student handbook. 
     

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED.  

  • Must be recognized by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 18 months. 

  • Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 18 months. 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 18 months of hire. 

  • Six months of hospital experience.

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
